March 2016’s Top 3

Hello hello! I thought I’d start this series? trend? meme? this THING called Monthly Top 3, where I tell you my 3 favorite books that I read during the previous month! Since March is over, I’m going to start there 🙂

Why Top 3, and not Top 10 or Top 5? I’ll eventually do a Top 10 something (maybe Yearly Top 10?), but I thought Top 3, because when I’m DESPERATELY looking for a new book to read, and I google “Best books february 2016” and it comes up with “Top 100! Top 10! Top bla bla bla”, I get a little discouraged because there are just too many books to choose from! So I thought I’d make this easier for you to see what books I liked the most among every March books I’ve read 🙂

Soooo, here we go!

  1. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

I will post my review of this book soon, but just so you know, I have heard SO MUCH hype about this book, that I HAD to read it! And yes, I really liked the story, but I must say, I was disappointed because I had so many expectations, and it didn’t quite make it. The summary would seem very familiar with YA lovers, and the writing isn’t exceptional, but it was highly enjoyable and, despite the lack of Wow Factor, it was my favorite read of March.

2. Room by Emma Donoghue

This one truly deserves a standing ovation. Okay yes, it’s not my March’s Top 1, but that’s just because I’m a sucker for YA. Anyway, Room is WOW. I posted my review on my Goodreads already, and I’ll post it soon here also. If you’ve only watched the movie, then please read the book also, because it’s told in Jack’s point of view and it’s so HEARTBREAKING. Not in the sense that you’ll cry and it’s sad, but in the sense that you CARE SO MUCH for Jack and you want to shelter him. I think this book got so much attention because of the movie and the Oscar nominations, but it totally deserved it.

3. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Ok so I know Jenny Han is a famous name in the contemporary/romance YA world, but this is the first book I’ve read of hers, and I must say, there were some moments I was completely blown away. I thought it’d become one of my favorite books EVER at the beginning, but then the protagonist (called Belly; I mean, what kind of name is that???) started getting annoying. Maybe I’m just too old (*cough* 19 *cough* not that old) but she seemed awfully young to be saying stuff in the likes of I’m old enough now or I wasn’t a child anymore or I want to drive. I only started my driving lessons at 18, LMAO XD Anyway, for all teenage girls out there, this book’s pretty relatable by way of thinking.

Alright, so that was my first Monthly Top 3! I hope you guys got inspired to read some of them! I WILL do a Wrap-Up eventually, and a Book Haul, but for now, I’ll leave those in the realm of ideas 🙂

THANK YOU SO MUCH for reading this! Like, comment or even follow! Everything is appreciated 🙂 And if you have any advice for me on how to manage this blog, feel free to tell me also, I’m fairly new at this xDD Have a nice day!
